How to Use a Ladder to Change Light Bulbs:

It seems like an easy task, changing light bulbs, but it really isn’t. There are lots of people that get hurt each year trying to change light bulbs by using stools, chairs, toys, table tops and there have even been people that get hurt trying to use duct tape at the end of a stick to unscrew light bulbs. One of the easiest and safest ways to change a light bulb is by using a ladder.

Ladders are much more stable than other items and they are designed for handling the weight of a person during this routine maintenance task. Here are 6 steps to using a ladder to change a light bulb:

1) Make sure the ladder is on level ground.

2) Be sure that the light bulb to be changed has been off for at least a half hour before trying to change it.

3) Climb up the ladder and stabilize yourself before attempting to unscrew the light bulb. Place one hand on the ceiling or wall to brace yourself and with the other hand unscrew the bulb.

4) Hand the old light bulb to your helper and screw the new light bulb in.

5) Carefully descend down the ladder using your hands to brace yourself on the steps or side of the ladder.

6) Repeat the process until all bulbs are changed.
